DSC Member: Chris Ojeda, His Music Will Melt Your Face

Byzantine

The world has a right to know how amazingly awesome Dollar Shave Club members are. So every Monday, we spotlight one of them to give you a peek into their awesomeness. This week, we’re profiling Chris Ojeda (second from the right), the frontman of the West Virginia-based metal band Byzantine. Listen to Chris thrash on Byzantine’s single “Legions of Death” below and then check out Chris’s ultimate Spotify playlist—a mix of Alice in Chains, Hall & Oates and Hank Williams III—here

Q: What’s the first album you ever bought?

A: The first album I ever stole was Guns N’ Roses Appetite for Destruction.

Q: Describe your biggest rock-star moment?

A: Hanging out with Dimebag Darrell from Pantera. He bought me a shot and signed my forehead.

Q: On the flip side, what’s the smallest crowd you’ve ever played in front of?

A: Two girls texting each other in Wales. We also played to only a bartender in East Lansing, Michigan.

Q: When was the moment you knew you wanted to become a rock god?

A: When I found myself stringing up a tennis racket with a shoestring so I could air guitar to “I Need You Tonight” by INXS.

Q: Name the greatest nonsensical lyric ever.

A: Dio’s “Holy Diver”: “Jump on the Tiger / You can feel his heart / But you know he’s mean / Oh, don’t you see what I mean?” It’s genius.
