What is business casual for men? That’s the question every guy asks himself when headed to a job interview or perhaps an event celebrating the accomplishments of a family member, so we’re here to answer with the help of LA-based stylist Rayne Parvis.

So what is business casual for men? “Business casual means looking sharp without a tie,” Parvis explains. “The simplest way to do this is to add a smart element to your casual attire—if you’re wearing jeans and a button-down shirt, either throw on a blazer or a pair of dress shoes that match whatever belt you’re wearing, preferably a leather belt.” If you’re wearing slacks and a button-down, put on a nice sweater (cashmere is always a good choice, according to Parvis).

Another simple way to ensure you’re meeting the business casual dress code, according to Parvis, is to incorporate at least two professional garments into your outfit—these garments include slacks, button-down shirts, blazers, leather shoes and belts and sweaters.
